Lamb Shakshuka for Two

Shakshuka is, by far, my most favourite breakfast ever.

It’s a North African/Middle Eastern dish of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce – usually featuring chilli, paprika and cumin.

For this recipe, I’ve jazzed up our favourite shakshuka recipe with some shredded harissa lamb for a special Valentine’s Day treat. It’s super quick to make, and you and your sweetheart could eat the shakshuka straight out of the pan its cooked in as part of a leisurely breakfast. Don’t forget some flatbreads or a crusty loaf to mop up all that gorgeous sauce!

Don’t be put off by the long ingredients list below.

This breakfast really is quick and simple to make; just make sure you’ve prepped and measured everything out in advance and then it comes together in no time.

HOW TO MAKE SLOW COOKER HARISSA LAMB

To make slow cooker harissa lamb, simply rub a generous tablespoon or two of good quality ready-made harissa paste onto the outside of a 1 kg half leg of lamb (or shoulder). Pop it in the slow cooker, add one inch of water and cook on low for 8-10 hours.

Carefully remove the meat from the bowl, reserving the liquid to make a sauce (if desired) and shred the meat while it’s still warm using two forks.

You could keep the shredded lamb in the freezer in 150-gram portions so you can whip up this breakfast in no time, any day of the year!

Instagram post 2196622435497804197_694267923 Hands up, who else wants to run away from it all and go live on a boat or in a van? This beauty is the Agnes Kay II owned by @agneskay_charters and one of the (many!) projects I’m working on right now involves this boat as a venue for an epic adventure trip next summer. Instagram post 2190922388793873030_694267923 #ad No Christmas cookie decorating skills? No worries! Just whip up a batch of gingerbread cookies (clickable recipe link in bio!) using the @brevilleUK HeatSoft hand mixer, and decorate them with ugly Christmas sweaters! All you need to do is to make some easy Royal Icing, pipe your sweater shape onto your easy homemade gingerbread cookies, and then decorate with some Christmas themed sprinkles. The Breville HeatSoft hand mixer, with its softening technology, heats cold butter to room temperature 12x faster too, so there's no need to wait for your cold butter to come to room temperature for making the cookies. It was awarded the 2019 Good Housekeeping Institute approved logo in 2019 for being a 'useful addition to any kitchen'. A perfect gift idea for any bakers on your Christmas list this year! #12bakesofChristmas #enhancingtheeveryday #christmascookies #gingerbread #uglychristmassweater #giftideas #christmasgiftidea #baking
