Review & giveaway in collaboration with Gin Explorer.
As a food blogger I am given the opportunity to try out all sorts of new and upcoming products. One of the most fantastic things to drop through my letterbox recently was the new subscription box from Gin Explorer, the brain child of the folk behind The Gin Festival – yes, there are really gin festivals throughout the year dotted around the UK! One of these days I’ll be lucky enough to attend one!
Gin Explorer is a brand new and exciting way to sample, explore and learn about gins from across the globe from the comfort of your own home.
Become an armchair explorer and join the Gin Explorer journey to receive a selection of different gin miniatures each and every month direct through your door. Each high quality gin is hand selected by your personal tour guide to take you on a culinary journey; thrilling your taste buds and awakening your senses. A witty and very amusing leaflet detailing all about the heritage and origin of the gins will your gin knowledge, and passion, along the way.
With the entire globe being explored, Gin Explorer assures that gin experts and novices alike will discover a delicious variety of rare, classic and unusual gins.
The Gin Explorer experience also includes surprises each month including mixers for you to experiment with and other gin treats.
We were given the opportunity to try out the April subscription box which contained four fantastic gin miniatures of English origin: 6 o’clock Gin from Bristol, England; Ish London Dry Gin from London, England; the fantastically named Zymurgorium’s Manchester Gin from Manchester, England, and the Little Scarlet Strawberry Gin Liqueur from Essex, England – each utterly wonderful and remarkably different in flavouring and finish.
There was also a bottle of 1724 tonic water (did you know that the greatest quinine can be found at precisely 1724 feet on the Inca Trail in the Andes?) and a miniature jar of marmalade along with a recipe for The Breakfast Martini. True story – a breakfast martini! How utterly civilized is that? 🙂
All in all we were very impressed with the Gin Explorer subscription box. A great deal of thought and research has gone into creating the accompanying leaflet – it’s clearly written by people with a passion for gin and its enthusiasm is infectious.
Subscriptions start from £24.99 for a rolling monthly subscription, or you can buy a three month or 12 month subscription. I think this would be a fantastic gift idea for any gin fan.

I use to have a girlfriend who claimed that Gin gave you nosebleeds so it wasn’t until last year that I actually had a glass of Gin… at over 40 years old. I’m now a convert and would love the opportunity to sample a few more flavours …
I would love to win this for my father who loves gin, it’s the only tipple he drinks.
Where do I begin, to convey my love of gin?
Gibson, Gimlet, London Fog
All so good, I love the grog
A cool Tom Collins, the sleek Moon River
A Fallen Angel never fails to deliver!
The Singapore Sling, the Paradise
Don’t care what you mix me, they all taste so nice!
I mixed it with cream liquor – it curdled
The sweet sounds of Gin being poured into a glass is enough to make me melt!
Gin is the first drink I got drunk on as a teenager, I had to be carried out to my mams car who was very very angry….I have never drank gin since but I believe it is time I gave it a second chance
I don’t know if this is amusing or not, but my nan used to drink a lot of Gin and tonic in here life. She said gin was capable of making even the strongest women cry! I used to laugh at her and call her crazy. But, I swear, every time I drink Gin I get so emotional. I either love everybody or hate everybody. She was right, and I miss her so much. She died before I was old enough to drink, but I’m sure she would be laughing at me and saying, ‘I told you so!!’
I dont have an amusing story about Gin, in fact I have never tried it so this would be the ideal opotunity
I am sure I have lots of funny stories about gin….unfortunately I don’t remember them!! 😉
I don’t really have a funny gin story other than I drink a lot of it 😛
No story sadly, but I do love gin.
For Christmas I got my Grandad a gift set with lots of different Gins and tonic water. I went to wrap it up on Christmas Eve night only to find my partner had nicked all the Gins out of it! We laugh about it now…
i’m not a gin drinker myself so no stories to tell but my dad loves gin so would love to win for him
Hmmmm can’t think of an actual Gin related story , but I must say that a refreshing Gin & Tonic certainly makes me Grin 🙂
I don’t have any amusing gin related stories, but I do remember when my dad was still alive and we went on holiday to Majorca and he got me to order us both a gin and tonic (which I had to say in Spanish!) and it was the first time I had tried it and fell in love with the drink from then on!
I bought my friend a Gin and Tonic in a Gin Bar with Juniper berries in. She started to drink it and swollowed a Berrie she started laugh and it came out of her nose
I’d like to discover the different gins and pair them with different mixers. The first time I tried gin was on New Years Eve at a posh bar and it was a great experience.
Just love Gin- there’s a lifetime of it out there
I don’t drink gin so I don’t have any gin related stories I’m afraid however my best friend loves gin. I still love her even though she tried to poison me with it one time despite promising me I would love it #scarredforlife
My Auntie is nearly 70 and is a big gin fan ..this would be the most perfect present for her !
I don’t have a gin story but would like to win this giveaway so i have one.
I don’t drink gin, but I am forever trying to find new gins for my husband who absolutely loves the stuff x
I’d love to win this for my Mum, she loves trying new gins.
My partner is just starting to try gins and he works so hard it would be great to surprise him with this 🙂
I would like to win this as it is a special weekend tipple for me and i know very little about gin
Wasn’t quite funny for me but everyone else has laughed for years about this. I was out collecting berries for my sloe gin batch of the year, when I slipped on wet grass and fell head first into the bushes. I emerged like a giant hedgehog, felt utterly ridiculous and in so much pain from the thorns I abandoned making the sloe gin and drank most of the bottle to drown my sorrows! Never lived it down lol
I’d love to win this prize as I adore discovering new gins! On holiday last year in a lovely 5 star hotel, we tried a different gin each evening from their ‘posh gin’ menu! On the last day we packed one of their printed menus into our case so that we could have little ‘guess the gin’ evenings at home!
I once had some fizzy water and gin in two differnt glasses picked up one drank it drank some more i thought this gin going sown nicley it was fizzy water!
I love trying new types of gin, so this would be perfect!
I would love to win it for my husband, he loves gin!
I thought I would enter for my brother who loves quirky gin and gin bottles. When I saw your blog post I instantly thought of him. He will love the idea of this! Very quirky and cool x
don’t have a gin story but really enjoy the drink, always a pleasure to drink
At 20 was introduced to G&T and loved it. In the last few years its got either better as there are so many to choose from.
i would love to win, because nothing compares to a refreshing gin and tonic after a long day
I’d love to win this competition simply because I love Gin!
I love gin and on National Gin Day I’ve made a gin & tonic cake, so would love to try different brands as I always stick with the trusted one.
This would be great for my son who has gin tasting sessions with his pals.
When I first moved out of student halls and into a shared house, our next door neighbour (not a student!) came round one day to ask us to turn our music down. He ended up staying for drinks and introduced us all to G&Ts! It’s been one of my favourite drinks ever since then.
I had been offered Gin over the years. Declined as I kept to drinking what I knew I liked. Eventually tried it when on a weekend away to Dublin, Ireland with friends. To me it tastes like perfume, as I told my persistent friend on the occasion that I did finally try tasting it. Still it is her favourite drink. If I win I will give the prize to my friend as I know she will Appreciate it.
Because there is nothing I love more than gin, elder-flower and tonic water. Hoping to make some for my 30th this year!
I’ve always loved a sloe gin. It’s ‘trendy’ again but I’ve never abandoned my tipple. Makes it easy to find so that’s a bonus!
Love gin with ice cold lemonade. My summer tipple!
I love me a g&t…although I think my amusing gin stories aren’t the best for public sharing!!
Would love to win for my dad for Father’s Day
I’d love to win this, as gin and tonics always bring back great memories- every family party has a round of gin and tonics for all!
My mum once got accidentally squiffy on gin on a flight a few years ago thanks to the altitude and an empty stomach. She was rather embarrassing and hasn’t drank on planes ever since!
My daughter spent the evening drinking gin and was utterly convinced that the cat was talking to her.
I love drinking Gin so much! Only discovered it recently so would love to win this and expand my horizons.
I want to win this because I just love gin, of course
Gin is one of my favourite alcoholic drinks, so this would be perfect for me and my best friend!
When young and travelling tried gins around the world, local “Cin” was my favourite in Turkey. Very pleasant eventing
A polar bear walks into a bar and has a seat. The bartender walks over and says “what will you have?”
The polar bear says “I’ll have a gin… and tonic.”
“Sure thing. But, uh, why the big pause?” asks the bartender.
“Oh these? I’ve had them forever.”
I would love to win this for my husband. He loves his gin, which he gets a bit of stick for!
I don’t have a funny story but I do have warm fuzzy memories associated with drinking Gin with my Mum as it’s our ‘Christmas drink’ – when we used to make the Christmas dinner while the men were at the pub (like we’d gone back in time and were 50’s housewives) we’d have a cheeky G’n’T in between bursts of activity and we’d chat about all sorts. Was especially nice after I’d moved out of home to keep the tradition going 🙂
I’ve been dubbed the Queen of Gin by my friends as it is all I drink when we go out. Hendricks is my favourite but I like many others too. I also love Sloe Gin. My saying is All the best people drink Gin! 🙂
My boyfriend loves gin, so I’d love to win this as a surprise for him.
I’d like to win this as I like gin but never really think to order it at a bar so would like to get more of a taste for it.
I’d like to win because I like a little tipple of Gin
I would love to win this for my husband who is a big gin fan!
My first gin hangover was a steep learning curve. Never before (or, thank goodness, since) have I felt so utterly depressed. I *never* drink gin to excess now. 2 is my limit so I make sure it’s good gin!
I blame Gin for the bush attacking me whilst I was on holiday at an All Inclusive resort. Enough said!
I’m a 43 frazzled mum of two young teens, they are moody, stroppy, lazy and awkward. On top of that, i care for my elderly parents monday – friday. Come the weekend, after dealing with all my responsibilities, the very least I deserve is a large G & T, you wouldn’t begrudge me that now would you?
I was a new mum with a baby a few weeks old. One day I made dinner ready for when my husband came home and poured us two g&t’s while my baby slept. Everything was perfect. Half an hour later, hubby had been held up at work, my daughter wouldn’t stop crying, tea was overcooked and I had drunk both my and his gin. My husband came home to find me siting on the stairs with my daughter, both of us crying!
I’ll raise a glass to my mum who didn’t drink and once went out with her brother to a share holders meeting and had a couple of gins, he had to carry her out!
My lovely Grandma every Christmas would have two gin and tonics before lunch, we wouldn’t see her again for the rest of the day. She only weighted 6 stone nothing so was obviously one too many.
Money can’t buy happiness.
But it can buy Gin!
Same thing really 🙂
My only gin story is from when I was younger and used to go out partying in the city, I always ended up holding my vodka and lemonade and my friend’s gin and tonic. I’d take a big gulp of the cheap gin and tonic and nearly be sick!! These days, now I’m a little older and after tasting some decent gins, I absolutely love the stuff!
A few years ago getting drunk on gin and walking down the road with my skirt tucked in my knickers 🙁
I don’t have any gin stories – but if I won I’m sure we’d make some! 🙂
Loving learning about gin recently – and this would help me along well!
Grandma, aged nearly 90 and living in Germany, still went out locally each morning to shop and have a coffee. for some reason, only known to her, she decided to have a gin and tonic with her cuppa but she had never drunk alcohol before. You can imagine how it affected her. I hope I live to do something outrageous at 90 but it would definitely include a glass of gin!
Only one I really have (or willing to share lol) is when one of our male friends came round, I had no beers or anything alcoholic to offer other than gin and tonic (what we were drinking at the time) reluctantly and after moaning about it being a girls’ drink he had a glass, then a few more and before you know it was having to get a taxi home. When me and my husband went to pick him up the next day to get his car, his mum told us of how she found him at 4am asleep in the porch after giving up on working out how to open the front door. Girl’s drink eh? lol
I never even thought about gin; always thought it was a stodgy back-of-the-cupboard kind of drink. Then I met my girlfriend and I am a total convert! Think Gin Explorer sounds a great idea!
Oh, I adore gin! This is a great competition!
I would love to win recently tried gin again after years of thinking I didn’t like it and would love to explore gin more 🙂
Sloe gin in my opinion is the best gin, absolutely love it, but in the summer you really can’t beat a refreshing G&T.
i would love to win for my mum, just as a little thank you for helping me through a difficult pregnancy 🙂
No amusing stories. I would love to win this for my lovely boyfriend who is also my carer, he deserves to be treated and he loves his gin and tonics xx
I would love to win so I can create some amazing drinks!
I drank gin before I ever drank milk. I wouldn’t swallow when I was born and the doctors told my mum I wouldn’t make it, but an old Irish nurse knew better than them and marched to the pub over the road and got a bottle of gin, so for the first few weeks of my life I had gin squirted down my throat to relax everything before every feed. Still love the stuff!!
I’d like to win this because it sounds like great fun.
I love gin and elderflower cordial mixed together during the summer and would love to win this!
No amusing stories yet, but winning all that G and drinking it will make some happen, for sure 😀
AL nights with gin have some amazing stories! Love a g&t, especially in the summer
My friends mum used to like a G&T when she answered the phone, as it rung she would pour a drink get comfortable and answer the phone.. needless to say she used to miss 9 out of the 10 calls, but would say ‘couldn’t of been important or they would of rung longer’.. we used to laugh.. that was 30 years ago.. bless her.
Would love this for my sister
I learned that, during the industrial revolution, mothers would mix gin with their babies milk to keep them quiet whilst they worked their 16 hour shifts… so sad
Lucky winner! Pity I can’t join but I would love to follow his/her experience for this awesome 3-month subscription!
This is exactly what I need! Thanks for sharing! xx
So many gins, so little time! Bring it on 🙂
This would be a lovely gift for my mum, thank you for the chance.
I’m a big gin fan! Would love to win this fantastic giveaway thanks x
I don’t have an amusing gin story, but I have always liked the stuff! Nothing better than sitting in the garden on a warm summer’s evening with a long G&T and ice & a slice!
I would love to win as I love gin help me please
I love gin and there is a great bar in Glasgow that serves 71 different kinds……not quite managed to work my way through trying them all yet but i will one day!
I enjoy gin and this prize would help me learn more about it
I found myself in a bar which I knew was not for me when I ordered a Gin and Lemon and was served with a shot of gin with a slice of lemon balanced on top. Horrified and unable to get the bar-persons attention again I shot the gin (to be fair – it was poor gin so don’t feel guilty about that) and went to find somewhere more to my taste
I’d love to win this as I’m a big gin fan! I’d never really thought much about different gins but once when I was at a pub, the barmaid accidentally poured Bombay Sapphire instead of the pub standard, and I realised how different individual gins are. Now I’m always trying new ones!
had a great drunken night in trying gin minatures which i got for xmas
Love that you can get a gin subscription box. I know someone who’d love that.
I haven’t drink a lot of gin but would still love to win this 🙂
I can’t drink but I have friends who love gin so I will tell them to enter. They might win you never know!
We have a friend who makes a mean gin & tonic. I love going there, the only problem is it’s always much harder to leave once he has indulged you!!!
Enjoying the same luxury at home would be a little less challenging!!!
Thanks for a fantastic giveaway 🙂 x
Espresso Martini. Vodka, coffee, coffee liqueur, and cream are mixed with vanilla liqueur in this cocktail, which sits somewhere between a classic espresso Martini and a White Russian.
I won a fever tree tonic tasting session once, it turned into a gin tasting session as well and my husband had to come and pick me and my friend up.
Gin can make you happy,
Gin can make you smile,
Gin can make you forget about things,
Every once in a while.
Gin can make you giggle,
Gin can fill you with glee,
Gin can make you forget you’re 40,
And that you needed to pee
No funny story, but I did write that for you
I LOVE Gin…I blog about it, it helps me life my life!
That whole product looks AMAZING and it’s a super gift idea.
#bloggerclubuk
I only discovered that I liked gin this year. I’m now doing my best to try as many gins as I can. Continue my ginducation!
I love me some gin (& tonic) and it would be awesome to test some gin from around the world.
Awesome giveaway.

Gin is my favourite tipple.
Fingers crossed I win!
I’m not a drinker but this sounds like an amazing opportunity
Wow what a great giveaway and subscription box – never heard of this one before
People say I have a great sense of humour – I’ll have a grin and tonic !
I once decided to have a girl’s night in and invited half a dozen friends round via email. The mail was supposed to read (in a faux pretentious fashion) “bring le vin” but a typo made it “bring le gin”. And everyone did! A quick run to the shop for mixers and it turned into a gin tasting night as only two people had brought the same brand.
I’m not a massive fan of Gin (or any alcohol) BUT this sounds exciting and unique. It would also make a really great gift! 🙂
This is a lovely giveaway. I know someone who would love this x
Great competition! I’m a bit of an armchair Explorer…. Exiting the world software gin one bottle at a time…. Would love to try out the Gin Explorer sets.. That would really make my summer! Who needs a holiday!? Lol
A few years ago I decided to mix gin with red wine (bad idea I know). I had an exercise ball in my bedroom and thought it would be a good idea to sit on it seductively. Next thing I know, I tripped over the ball, whacked my head on the wall, fell back on the ball and bounced straight onto the guy I was trying to impress elbowing him in the mouth. So embarrassing!
my husband is a big gin drinker tbh its the only spirit that he can handle x
I haven’t tried gin since I was 16! My parents owned a pub so I use to try all the spirits to see which I might like when I was old enough to drink! I wanted to seem more ‘grown up’ by ordering a proper drink when I was old enough.
I would love to win this, just in time for drinks on the patio in the sunshine 🙂
Gin is made from juniper berries so I can count it as one of my 5 fruit & veg portions per day..right? 😉
Gin is my summer alcoholic drink of choice. I would absolutely love to win this.

I love love love love love love gin. The end.
Not funny, but I was so disappointed to discover that Bobmay Sapphire gin wasn’t actually blue
me and my mate when we were younger stole her dads gin and drunk the lot god we felt rough the next day
I don’t know about amusing, my we all love gin in my house! once a friend of mine gave me a sip of what I at first assumed to be water on the way to a party, that was actually neat gin! Surprisingly it hasn’t put me off, even though I did get a shock when I took a big gulp
I don’t really have any amusing gin related stories to tell but I might have later if I win this lovely prize
because there is nothing better than a cold gin and tonic with a slice of lime while sitting in the garden on a sunny day
First time drunk was with drinking Gin
No amusing story ,I’m afraid..but my hubby loves gin (and I do too!), so that’s why I’d love to win 😉
My most recent amusing gin-related story is the fact that my siblings and I all know that my dad loves the occasional gin and tonic…he ended up with three bottles of gin and one gin cocktail box as Christmas presents last year as a result!
I probably have tons of amusing gin stories, but after drinking the stuff – who can remember 😀 My favourite plant is a Cotinus, because when you crush or rub the leaves they smell of gin – try it 🙂
I would love to win so that I can create my own amusing gin related story!
I used to drink gin a lot when i was younger, my grans always said Gin makes you cry !! But i havent had it for ages, would love to rediscover x
I’ve only discovered gin in the last couple of years and have slowly been trying different varieties. I really need to expand my repertoire!
No funny gin story but will a joke do instead?
A man runs into a bar and slams some money down. “I want a gin and tonic.” He gasps, looking around wildly. The barman pours him the drink and he downs it in one gulp. Suddenly police appear from everywhere. They pop out from behind doors, they come out from the floorboards, and some even descend from the ceiling on ropes. They shoot the customer over and over and over again. Then they grab his lifeless body, pull him over to a pole which they have brought in, tie him to it, and set the pole on fire. After the body has been burned they all run off leaving the barman standing there shocked. Another man walks in, looks around, and walks up to the barman. He puts some money down on the bar and says “I’d like a gin and tonic please.” The barman slowly shakes his head and says “That’s not a good idea.
Would love to try this, it sounds brill
Would love to win this for my flat mate! It’s his favourite drink!
I don’t really have an amusing story involving gin, however id love to win this then maybe id have a good story to tell. I love the idea of receiving alcohol through my letterbox each month. Why haven’t I signed up before?!
i would love to win this for my mum her Favorite drink is gin and tonic with bitter lemon what a fab giveaway thankyou xx
The Gin Explorer sounds so intersting! I’d love to win this, I’d surprise my boyfriend with it because Gin is his favourite drink ad he’d adore this!
I want to win this giveaway because I love Gin. Simple as that !
My parents weren’t gin drinkers, but always kept a bottle of gin in the cupboard in case anyone that dropped by fancied some. As teenagers, me and my brother would take the gin and replace it with water, as teenaagers are wont to do. By the time we stopped, the gin was mostly water. Now in our 30s, we confessed our sins. My parents replied the bottle had lasted a good long time because people never seemed to want a second glass – now they know why! Nowadays, I have my own gin stash, and I’m always looking to try new types – I’d love to try the Gin Explorer.
I don’t really have a particularly funny story but I will say the first alcoholic drink I bought when I turned 18 with my shiny new ID was a gin and lemonade! I have no idea why gin specifically, I think my friend just told me to get it. It was surprisingly nice and I’ve always been fond of it since.
Ooh I love gin and here in Scotland we have so many, I hope the explorer box includes some of them!
I have been on a gin making course at the Edinburgh Gin Distillery and really enjoyed it!
I went to a gin bar with some friends, some were gins fans and some had never really tried it before. The barman was asking us all what we wanted in turn, some knew what they wanted others were asking for advice. One of my friends who wasn’t really a gin drinker, asked ‘Have you got anything with juniper in it?’ Not missing a beat the barman says ‘Gin?!’. Cue laughter a very red-faced friend who realised what she had said!
Wow! Amazing giveaway, I don’t have an amusing gin story I’m afraid, or if I do, I’d had too much gin and don’t remember the tale! I’ve always enjoyed a nice gin and tonic and over the last couple of years on my travels, I’ve discovered how wonderfully varied gins can be. This is why I would LOVE to win this, to do a little more ‘exploring’ right at home! I do, however, recommend you all try OMG (Oh My Gin), the first Czech gin I believe It’s well worth it 🙂
