Our weekly bite-sized review series.
This week we’ve cleaned our kitchen from top to bottom, watched a film, tasted a new simple children’s recipe, snacked on fruit and nuts and experimented with some rather fantastic pumpkin cream – all the awesome, none of the mess. There’s a DVD giveaway too! Scroll down to the bottom to enter!
Astonish Cleaners – a superb range of vegan, cruelty-free cleaning products from a family owned British company. These products get the job done, and quickly! My oven is now nearly as clean as it was the day I bought it! Like, mother-in-law visiting kind of clean! Prices from £2 for 750 ml.
Grangusto Pumpkin Cream – for all those Autumnal pumpkin recipes where you don’t feel like carving, roasting and pureeing the pumpkin yourself. This delicious and smooth puree of pumpkin is combined with a little onion, olive oil and salt to enhance the flavour – great for the whole family with pasta, soup or in a risotto. £3.45 for 290 grams.
Real Handful Snack Mixes – I lived off these things while I was cycle training earlier on this year, and they fuelled me through my epic bike packing trip through Scotland. Available in a variety of flavours, my favourite was the blood orange and dark chocolate. £1.29 for 40 grams.
Carrot & Apple Salad – recipe from Bright Horizons served to the children in the MacIntosh day nursery in Manchester – quick and simple to make and super for lunchboxes too. My younger two children have requested the salad again for their packed lunches!
Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom – get your family ready for Halloween with this adventurous tale of mystery and magic! Available on DVD from the 3rd of October, and digital download from the 26th of September, this charming animated film covers everything you want in a family adventure film: mysterious lands, a legendary book, great and monstrous creatures and friendship. £6.99 on Amazon.

I bought myself a new ‘Jurni’ suitcase the other day to take on weekend trips and hols. It’s aimed at teenagers really as it’s designed in funky colours and can be used as a seat at airports or or train platforms for ‘grumpy teens’ to sit on and moan about delays 😉 Anyway it keeps me young and trendy…plus my tired old bones need the rest more than them. x
