The Great Oven Ban Challenge Giveaway

The Great Oven Ban Challenge Giveaway

Published on April 29, 2016 • Last updated July 22, 2017 by Elizabeth

The Great Oven Ban Challenge (Day 6) in collaboration with Home Spares.

The Great Oven Ban Challenge Giveaway

Regular readers will be aware that for the last week I have been undertaking The Great Oven Ban Challenge from Home Spares, a UK supplier of spare parts for appliances and a wide range of accessories and consumables for in and around the house. Their range includes products for air & water purification, floor care, garden & outdoor, home & DIY essentials, home entertainment (including sound & vision), kitchen, home laundry and personal care.

For The Great Oven Ban Challenge I was sent a selection of Severin kitchen appliances to try out, pictured below, to show how a few small appliances can transform your kitchen into something worthy of Masterchef.

Severin Appliances - The Great Oven Ban Challenge

Natural Yogurt
Chilli Kale Crisps
American Breakfast Pancakes
Deconstructed Pizza: A Raclette Party
48 Hour BBQ Sous Vide Ribs

I’m not sure how close to Masterchef my creations were, but I certainly did enjoy using the new appliances. On Sunday I posted about how to make natural yogurt and what to do with it, using my Severin electric yogurt maker. On Monday I wrote about the Severin dehydrator with a delicious recipe for chilli & paprika kale crisps. On Tuesday I wrote about making Nigella Lawson’s American style pancakes on the Severin crepe maker, while on Wednesday I shared our experience with using a raclette for the first time ever. On Thursday I shared a recipe for 48 hour BBQ ribs made in a sous vide.

All in all it’s been a pretty interesting week trying out the new appliances and cooking techniques. I’m looking forward to experimenting with some of these appliances more over the coming months, so watch this space for new recipes!

In the meantime, Home Spares have offered the chance for one of my readers to win a Severin Raclette Grill and Natural Stone worth £42, my absolute favourite of all the appliances I was sent to try out.

Severin Raclette Grill & Natural Stone

A raclette is a Swiss creation: the ideal table top grill for a dinner party. Guests melt cheese in the grill pans underneath while meats and vegetables cook on the natural grill stone above. There is also a reversible grill pan – one side has the space to cook four mini crepes while the other side is a grill. It’s a great way to impress guests with minimal work from the host – guests (including fussy children!) can just cook what they like.

GIVEAWAY

Homespares have kindly offered a Severin Raclette Grill & Natural Stone worth £42 as a giveaway prize for one of my UK readers. To enter, simply fill out the Rafflecopter entry form below!

The whole idea behind raclette is that people can make what they fancy. So I would serve them a mix of pre-cut vegs, onions, peppers, little pieces of steak, pork, small sausages, pieces of chicken, whisked eggs & pancake batter and just let them all have at it and make whatever they like to eat.

This would transform weekend breakfasts, I could do the sausages, bacon amd pancakes on the top and poached eggs and beans in the pans.

This looks amazing! Raclette would be the way forward for me – lovely melted cheese, potatoes, gherkins and I’d grill some chopped ham on there to go with it…

Probably fajitas. Ideal for family nights. Can do a veggie option and a meat option without much hassle!

I think I’d try hosting a make your own pizza night. The toppings could be cooked and kept warm underneath while the mini pizzas finish off on top. My friends would love that!
