BBC Radio 2 is always on in the kitchen from the moment I wake up in the morning until I finally close that kitchen door and retire in the evening.
The thing is, living in such a remote island location means that the FM radio signal could be fairly weak and would vary depending on the weather. Radio static rage is really a thing, I tell you!
For Christmas one year my husband bought me a bluetooth wireless speaker so I could stream the radio through the internet (and so I would stop raging at radio static, I should think!). I was skeptical, but after the internet connection to our rural village improved I was converted to the wonderful world of digital radio, Spotify and my own personal playlists.
So I’ve been using my old bluetooth speaker for a couple of years now, but I now realise how poor the sound quality was compared to the new Bluetooth Portable SoundPEATS P2 Outdoor Speaker I have been kindly sent to review!
Gosh, what a snazzy little gadget this is!
It measures only 98 x 90 x 50 mm but it really packs a punch sound wise (even my sound engineer husband agrees!). It’s waterproof, which means it can be used outdoors if I wanted for camping, picnics, the shower (!!) or as a bicycle speaker (I had no idea such a thing existed!), but most importantly, it means I can use it in my kitchen work space without worrying about it getting splashed or covered in flour (as is wont to happen in a busy family kitchen!).
A full charge will provide 10 hours of playtime and you can connect with your device up to 10 metres away.

My colleagues at work were only just talking about bluetooth speakers and how they use them all the time with their free Spotify subscription. Although I listen to music on my phone, especially when I’m doing the housework, I’m always wary of dropping it in the toilet/bath as I try and maintain it’s wifi signal which is rubbish on my phone. This would be perfect for me, especially as music really lifts my mood and I will get the housework done in half the time!
