Win a Year’s Supply of Coffee from Pact!

Published on September 7, 2016 • Last updated November 22, 2016 by Elizabeth Atia

In collaboration with Pact Coffee.

Pact Coffee filter

I am absolutely thrilled to be able to introduce you to Pact Coffee (if you haven’t already heard of them!) and to let you know that I’ve teamed up with them to help spread the word about their awesome coffee!

Pact Coffee are a London-based company whose sole mission in life is to source the tastiest, most interesting coffee in the world, bring it back to their head office, roast it, and distribute it straight to your door in simple letterbox friendly packaging so there’s no waiting around for the postman.

They use Direct Trade to source their beans. By going straight to the origin and meeting with their dedicated farmers, they’re able to cut out the middle man and bring us the best speciality coffees in the world – plus, they guarantee to pay their farmers a minimum of 125% of the usual Fair Trade rate.

Pact Coffee

Each 250 gram bag of coffee costs £6.95, slightly more than you’d pay in the supermarket, but as I mentioned above, the people growing the beans actually get a decent wage for their work, which is really important.

Plus, it tastes fantastic! No more stale supermarket coffee beans!

Hand’s up, who else has gone to get their morning cuppa only to find out that you’ve run out of coffee? This isn’t a problem with a subscription service like this – freshly ground (or whole, if you prefer to grind your own) beans delivered straight to your door (your home or office!) just when you want it.

All of their coffee beans are roasted in house at the Pact Coffee HQ in Bermondsey, London, and shipped out to you within one week, ensuring they are as fresh as they can possibly be. Each bag tells the name of who grew it, its roast profile, the date it was roasted on and the date, and who by, it was packed. Directly sourced from farm to cup. What could be better than that?

Pact Coffee and Elizabeth's Kitchen Diary

If you use the exclusive voucher code EKITCHEN when placing your first order with Pact Coffee you will receive a rather snazzy free filter coffee gift – a V60 drip filter, 100 x paper filters and free delivery – a gift worth £10. Plus, I’ll get a small commission too and so you’ll be directly helping to support my family.

In the meantime, Pact Coffee have offered one of my readers the chance to win a year’s supply of coffee! Now, that’s not a year’s supply at the rate I drink it (lots, I live off the stuff!), but at the rate my husband drinks it (one filter cup on occasion, mostly as a lazy weekend morning treat) – so that works out to be one 250 gram bag per month.

There are also three runners up prizes of a three month coffee supply up for grabs!

You can find Pact Coffee on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can sign up for a free account here, or take advantage of the exclusive Elizabeth’s Kitchen Diary voucher code here. You’ll get a free coffee kit and awesome coffee and I’ll get a £2 commission. Win – win!

I never used to like coffee until I went to Uni. All my friends would go to the coffee shop and buy fancy coffees and I’d look like a big dull dud with a tea or a hot chocolate. So I started drinking mocha, and now I only drink black unsweetened coffee. The coffee evolution is a strange one!

I used to buy Ethiopian coffee from Swiss Cottage, they ground the beans making the area smell gorgeous. One day I was in Victoria station and I saw all the beans there and thought I’d have a cup. So I told him the beans I wanted my coffee made from. Apparently you don’t do that you have an espresso or whatever. My idea is better.

I have fresh beans from my local coffee roasters in Bristol. I grind the beans as I go so it’s fresh as can be. I hope people stop buying the machines that take pods. Just think of all that plastic. Sooo bad for the environment. Plus, the machine is too easy to change, making the current machines redundant before their time.

I asked a staff member and they price checked it at £20, it scanned through at the checkout at £20 which I was thrilled at. When I got home with it I checked online and they were averaging at about £70, was super impressed with my bargain and still use it daily.

Coffee in the morning is a time to be treasured for me. I get up, sort the kids for school, get us all ready and drive the dreaded school run. Once I’ve battled with the crowd of cars to get a parking spot, I run them into the the school gates and wave them off. The walk back to the car is with a bit more of a spring in my step as I know I will get a couple of minutes alone. I’ve brought my coffee from home, not touched it until now and its great to saviour those first few sips.:)

I have been working in restaurants my whole life so I was always making coffee, so a few years ago whilst managing a restaurant in The Netherlands I decided to complete my barista certification. That did it so now I am totally hooked on coffee, I have about 3 different coffee machines plus percolators, Italian espresso makers, everything you could imagine to make the perfect cup of coffee, the only problem is my new partner who I have been with for almost a year now, can’t stand coffee, even the smell turns his stomach. But I don’t mind all the more for me then!

Turkish coffee is the strongest I’ve ever experienced! My cousin learned to make it for her Turkish husband. It had to be boiled up 3 times in a tiny coffee pan till it ended up like syrup. It was exceedingly strong and I had to add sugar to take the edge off it so I could drink it. Delicious with a chocolate though!

I was at my mum’s house a few years ago, and she isn’t so fussy about coffee as me so it’s always instant. Her mate was there too so Mum made us both a coffee, but I didn’t fancy her supermarket own brand instant and asked for tea instead. Her mate got her coffee and sat sipping it politely looking less than impressed, so when she left I had a nag about poor coffee and Mum was defending it saying her mate didn’t complain. So she had a mouthful of hers and pulled a face and started laughing…she’d taken the red jar of gravy granules out of the cupboard instead of the coffee in a similar jar…and made their brews with it, gravy milk and sugar. 🙂

A few years back I was visiting France and a friendly barista showed me a great way to drink coffee. The coffee should be as strong as possible and black. Take alternate small sips of the coffee and larger sips of cold, still water. It makes each sip of coffee tastes like your first, and the water helps “lengthen” the drink, especially for small espresso sized drinks.

There is nothing like starting the day with a cup of coffee, especially now the colder weather is upon us! I lovemaking a vanilla latte in the morning – tastes delicious and is the perfect way to start my day.

Now my children are back/starting school, I’m planning a lot of lazy days, and drink coffee will be one way to be lazy and relaxed. I’m always on the lookout for new things to try and would love to win this.

Nothing better than a big mug of coffee (one of those ones you need both hands to hold) on a cold wet day, really makes me feel good

Try to limit myself to 5 cups a day…

A great alternate use to instant coffee, it’s great in baking with chocolate. A spoonful really intensifies the chocolate flavour and doesn’t make it taste like coffee.

The best thing about Pact coffee is the 125% of the Fairtrade wages they pay . Drinking coffee and helping folk earn a decent living at the same time – my kind of multi-tasking.

I love coffee so much I wrote a poem about it.

    Oh how I love thee,
    my special coffee.
    You make feel alive
when my energy takes a dive.
You keep me on my feet.
Oh coffee, you are a necessity
    and a treat!

I enjoy coffee all day: From my morning cappuccino, to my midday espresso, to a nice strong filter after dinner with the girls.

There’s a particulare palce where a friend and I go for coffee and last time we were there I bought some beans but it was quite some time ago and I haven’t seen her in a while. Today I made a cup of coffee with the beans (freshly ground) using a PACT bought hario filter. I took a sip of the coffee and instantly thought of my friend. I was trying to figure out why she’d suddenly sprung to mind when I realised that it was because the only other time I’ve had that taste is when I’m with her.

We drink our ground coffee at the weekend and use a filter machine. I remember going to France with my parents in the 1970s and they brough back their first filter machine, it was an orange Moulinex one, we have been a family of coffee drinkers ever since and tend to overdose at the weekend!

I used to work in the alps and we had such delicious coffee beans but they don’t ship to the UK. I love having a coffee in the garden on a lazy Saturday watching the birds. Love Pact’s ethos and the fact they pay such a good wage to the farmers.

Ok, I’ll just come clean, I know nothing whatsoever about coffee and drink the very rare mug of instant de-caf. However my son is a real coffee nut and I’ld loee to treat (and impress) him with some good coffee (I do have a proper coffee machine for visitors) – all the coffees I buy for when he visits are always a let down apparently so I’m trusting your judgement on this one.
