Our weekly bite-sized review series – this week it’s the kids’ selection!
What’s new in our kitchen this week? Here are some of the things our children have been loving: adventuring ants, a nature scrapbook, glitter jelly, teddy bear picnic baking and a rather peculiar “banana surprise”. Oh, there’s a giveaway too! Sharing the love!
The Nature Explorer’s Handbook – Part album, part manual, part nature guide, the 80 pages of this book are divided into three sections: Earth, Air and Water and adventurer’s are encouraged to search for, explore and gather (or photograph) things found in nature. Jolly good fun. £16.99
Bake Box #4 Teddy Bear Picnic – everything you need to make a teddy bear picnic from a silicone bear shaped tin to owl and mushroom cookie cutters, ladybird and leaf stencils, food colouring and recipes simple enough for children to follow. £14.99
Hartley’s Mixed Berry Glitter Jelly – add some sparkle to your desserts with this vegetarian-friendly fruit jelly. Perfect for kids’ parties! Available in Asda, Ocado and Morrisons. 75p
Banana Surprise – words fail me, truly, but the kids really enjoyed playing with this, filling the bananas with melted chocolate. £9.98 from Amazon.
Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants on DVD – A fantastic tale taking place at ground level, this feature length film based on the popular CBBC tv show is the perfect back-to-school treat for all the family. Blending stunning CGI animation with live action backdrops it really transports little ones (and not so little ones!) to the undergrowth where they’ll embark on a huge adventure with the tiniest heroes. Available for digital download from the 19th of September and on DVD from the 26th of September.
