Our weekly bite-sized review series.
What’s new in our kitchen this week? Two newly released cookery books, an electric spiralizer, Belgian gin and some seriously good Icelandic tv viewing.
Palestine on a Plate: Memories from My Mother’s Kitchen by Joudie Kalla – This hardcover book released on the 15th of September by Jacqui Small is a mouthwatering page turner from start to end, if you’re a fan of Middle Eastern flavours like I am. RRP £25, currently £17 on Amazon Prime (at the time of writing).
Slow Dough Real Bread by Chris Young (and the bakers of the real bread campaign) – Also published on the 15th of September by Nourish Books this hardcover book features bakers’ secrets for making amazing long-rise loaves at home. A must-have for the real bread enthusiast. RRP £20.
Morphy Richards Electric Spiralizer Express* – Create spiralized vegetables in minutes with this newly released kitchen appliance from Morphy Richards. Slimmers – swap your regular pasta for courgetti to reduce the calorie content significantly, while still enjoying the recipes you love! RRP £49.99, currently £45 from Debenhams.
X-Gin – Gin for the queens, gods and kings. This Belgian gin combines juniper berry with 15 herbs and several of the best spices known to man, including cocoa and vanilla. €44.95 for 50cl.
Trapped – Seriously compelling Icelandic crime drama that I binge watched over two days last week while recovering from a cold. Features the Norrona, a cruise ferry that used to call into Shetland. Five stars from me!
